I cannot recommend Brides of York along with Sharon highly enough.

I was heading into wedding dress shopping with some trepidation, as what I really wanted didn’t seem to fit the current trends/styles I could see in most bridal shop windows. So I was worried I’d have an uncomfortable experience, not really finding what I wanted and ending with me needing to compromise.

Very luckily Brides of York was the first wedding dress shop I visited and my worries were dispelled instantly – Sharon was so friendly, professional and knowledgeable I instantly felt like I was in safe hands. After picking out some styles I liked, with Sharon’s expert approach I had found my perfect dress after only trying on two. Nothing I asked for or wanted was too difficult as Sharon seems to have built up a collection and an approach which allows for so much flexibility.

After choosing my dress, the whole process from ordering to final pick up was well communicated and smoothly run – meaning I had no stress or worries about my wedding dress at all. I felt absolutely beautiful on my wedding day, wearing a dress that was exactly what I had hoped for thanks to Sharon at Brides of York.

I’ve sent you some photos we haven’t had the full gallery yet but they look great so far!

I also wanted some advice I caught my heel on the hem of the underskirt and ripped it towards the end of the night it needs cleaning tok but not sure if I should get it fixed first? Or cleaned first and if it needs fixing any recommendations of where to take it? I’d be happy to bring it back to you if that was something you’d be able to do?

Hope you’re well. Sorry I haven’t been in touch. We went away on honeymoon the day after the wedding and then we’re back at work last week when we returned so it’s been a little crazy.

We had an amazing day and my dress was gorgeous 🙂

Hi Sharon,

I hope you’re well and having a break soon after what was very likely a VERY busy season. I know these are very delayed but I just wanted to pass on some photos from our day which showcase the dress you so carefully picked out for me and made so perfect for me. Even after my surgery I am still wanting to wear it everyday, it was not just beautiful but genuinely comfortable all day (I didn’t realise the bodice was actually keeping me upright by the end of the day, my back was in tatters!). I can’t wait for it to come back from the preservation people.

Proper card to follow, but as promised here is a sample of the photos from the amazing wedding day Andy and I had. Everything, even the weather was perfect and we couldn’t have asked for more!

Lots of compliments from the groom, guests and even the photographer on the dress itself, so thankyou for your help and advice on it. Also lots of comments from the bridal party about how calm everything was in the run up to the main event – all of which I put down to the great team we had behind us (including yourself) that had given such good counsel and support, ensuring we stayed focussed on the big stuff and bridezilla stayed at bay.

All in all – a magical experience. I’d highly recommend getting hitched……. 😉

Hi Sharon, hope you’re well? Just wanted to share our wedding day with you! We managed to get to the Dominican just fine, and it was an incredible holiday. Our wedding day was so incredibly emotional as it rained all day! We were due to be married at 4pm and it was still raining. I decided to wait an hour to see if it held off and it did! So, at 5.20pm we finally tied the knot and it was perfect! Thanks to the rain the beach was deserted! The day after another lady got married and people were being so rude, shouting, kids running round, someone even walked past her ceremony with a boombox! The universe really was on our side that day and I couldn’t of asked for a more perfect day.

I just wanted to thank you so much again for helping me find my dress, everyone loved it and my dad even said it was better than he even imagined (which set me off crying as you can imagine). But I would never have dreamt of a dress like my Millie but you helped me find my dream dress and I can’t thank you enough.

It fit perfectly and stayed put the whole duration! Apart from a few floor trailing stains at the bottom, the dress is still immaculate! Despite never being able to wear it again ( other than in my own time ;D ) I will never part with it!

Thank you so much to you all for everything, I couldn’t have been happier with the dress and accessories and you were all an absolute delight to deal with. We had the most wonderful and memorable day, it really was perfect. I felt like a proper princess.

Please also pass on my thanks to Marguerite. I absolutely loved my dress, I felt so special in it. I had so many compliments, my friends and family were just raving about how beautiful the dress was with many saying, quite genuinely, that it was the nicest or one of the nicest dresses they had seen. 2 of my friends want to get married again so they can borrow my dress! Most importantly, Mike thought it was perfect. He was pretty choked when he saw me appear at the bottom of the aisle in the church. And my Dad was also choked, very unusual for him!

I loved the fact that although it was a big dress I was so free to move around. I just loved ‘floating’ around in it and didn’t want to sit down. Infact, we had an amazing band play during our evening do and we spent a big chunk of the evening dancing, it was amazing!

I can’t thank Charlotte and Sharon at the Bridal Lounge in Northallerton enough. Will and I got engaged on Christmas Eve 2011 and only a week later set the date for our wedding – May 12th 2012! I went to the Bridal Lounge early January and instead of telling me how it would be nearly impossible to have a dress made in that time (as I had been told over the phone by a couple of other retailers) I was talked through which designers offered an expedited service and what options I had in terms of buying from stock and having the dress altered. Having had a firm idea of what kind of dress I had in mind I was (gently!) persuaded to try and few different styles and thank goodness I did because I fell in love with an Augusta Jones lace gown having been sure I didn’t want to wear lace. The service provided by the Bridal Lounge was seamless and I could not have been more pleased with my dress on the day – I felt amazing! Our photographer (Henry Aarvold) liked the dress so much that we agreed to do a post wedding shoot at a nearby location.
